About Us

The Dutch Society for Human Genetics (NVHG)

The Dutch Society for Human Genetics (NVHG) is the scientific association for everyone in the Netherlands who is active in the field of human genetics.

Our Mission

It is the NVHG’s mission to be the national meeting platform for researchers, physicians and other professionals in human genetics. NVHG provides insight in the landscape of human genetics in The Netherlands, and brings together various stakeholders, e.g. hospitals, research institutes, ministries, insurance companies and technology developers.

Our Vision

We subscribe to the vision of the Council of Europe, that “the development of genetics in healthcare has a major impact on the organization of health care, leading to shifting from curative to preventive services, from in-patient to out-patient treatment, from specialized genetic services to genetics as an integral part of general health services.”

Sister Associations

The NVHG partners with three professional associations

VKGN

Dutch Association of Clinical Geneticists which unites medical specialists in clinical genetics.

VKGL
